Saturday 19th July 2014
Joins us in the Lake District and fill your lungs with fresh air during a walk in and around Coniston Old Man near Windermere to raise funds for Destination Florida. The walk is of moderate difficulty and will be guided by experienced, trained mountain leaders, route maps and radios will be provided.
Starting at the car park in Coniston at 10am, meander through and around Coniston Old Man finishing off at one of the pubs (to be confirmed) in Coniston at approximately 4pm, where everyone can enjoy a well-earned meal and refreshments if required.
The total distance is approximately 7 ½ miles and takes around 5 hours. The terrain is a high level walk with mainly clear fells. The walk is suitable for all abilities, but most enjoyed by those aged 8 years and up.
Walkers should bring their own sandwiches, drinks and snacks for during the day and money for the meal at the pub at the end of the day. Waterproof clothing and suitable walking footwear are a must and no one can start the walk without them. It is advisable to bring your own sun cream and hat, but we do ask that you only carry what is really essential.
Some of the walkers are possibly going to camp overnight which will just add to the fun so please do let us know if you wish to join and we can book you a place on the campsite.
As this is for charity, a fee of £20 per person is required, whether this be by sponsorship from your nearest, dearest and colleagues or simply as a donation from the individual. All of the fees and donations will be given to the charity, Destination Florida.
There are prizes (1st, 2nd and 3rd) for the highest level of sponsorship raised.
In order to ensure the safety of everyone, the walk is limited to a total of 60 walkers – places will get booked up quickly so will be booked on first come first served basis once your £20 is paid. Please have your entry forms in by 12th July 2014 so we can ensure we have adequate leaders present on the day, although late entries may be considered.
