Former Tyldesley Police Station to Become School

Crystal Property and Land - Greater Manchester

The former Police Station building in Tyldesley is set to become a childcare care facility after owners Crystal Property and Land concluded a deal with the Advanced Childcare Group.

The 4,590 ft² building and ½ acre site have been let on a six year lease.

The building has been unused since it was closed by Greater Manchester Police in 2006. Crystal acquired the property in 2011 and have since made a number of improvements including renovation of the cladding, windows and entrance.

Crystal Property and Land Director Andy Park said: “When we first acquired the former Tyldesley Police station we could see that it had the potential for a number of different uses beyond its original purpose. In particular, we felt that its location in a busy residential area made it ideal for a childcare facility, so it’s great news that Advanced Childcare have chosen the building for the their new school. This letting will bring back into use a building that has long been vacant and provide an important community resource.”

Hayley Blackwell, Marketing Manager for the Advanced Childcare Group, said: “The property is currently undergoing refurbishments and will be opening as an independent school for young people with special educational needs. The school is due to open in Autumn 2013.

“The size and layout of the school allows us to tailor the educational experience of young people to their individual needs and interests, including vocational education.”

In addition to this property, Crystal has recently purchased an out-of-town retail park in nearby Wigan. The 4,500 ft² Unit 2 is currently available to let at the development.
