Hurstwood have announced plans to redevelop the landmark Heritage Arcade in Rawtenstall town centre and bring the building, which is currently derelict, back into use.
Discussions are currently taking place with the local planners to create more retail units inside the building.
Hurstwood Sales Director Mark Carling said: “Heritage Arcade is one of the most unique buildings in Rawtenstall but one which has fallen on hard times. Attempts to let the building in its current shell condition have proved unsuccessful so Hurstwood have made the decision to look at redeveloping it for retail use.
“Currently, the building’s huge potential is not being realised but we feel that with some investment we can restore this historic building and bring it back into use.”
Heritage Arcade is located on Bacup Road in the Rawtenstall town centre redevelopment zone and is adjacent to the transport interchange.
