Refurbishment Almost Complete on Rishton Supermarket

Hurstwood - Co-Op

Hurstwood have almost completed refurbishment work on a new 4,600 ft² retail unit in Rishton; which is to become a new Co-op supermarket.

The Manchester-based commercial property developer is in the process of converting their former Bentley Garage site on Harwood Road, close to the town centre.

Work carried out by Hurstwood on the new store includes a new roof, new entrance and loading doors, new shop front and resurfacing of the car park. The Co-Op’s own fit-out work is due to start in February.

A second 2,000 ft² retail unit has also been refurbished and is currently available to let, along with two workshops measuring a total of 9,000 ft².

Hurstwood Chairman Stephen Ashworth said: “We have now almost completed refurbishment work at our site in Rishton and the new retail unit will soon be ready for the Co-op to move in and begin their own fit-out. We also currently have a great deal of interest in the second retail unit on the site and expect this to be let by summer 2013.”

The Co-op, who are set to move from their old store on the High Street, have agreed a 15 year lease on the property.
